Comedic Tenor, Comic Vehicle

Humor in American Film Comedy

by Paul H. and Robin Jaeckle Grawe

©Institute for Travesty, Comedy, and Humor Studies 2008

Welcome to Comedic Tenor, Comic Vehicle (CTCV), a book-length study of how Humor of the Mind enhances meaning and enjoyment of some of Americaís favorite film comedies. CTCV provides a formal definition of comedy, distinguishing it from other literary forms and demonstrates humorís relationship to a wide variety of America's film comedies. The principles of humor texture for comedic works here employed come both from empirical studies and  from classic literary criticism texts, notably the work of George Meredith, Henri Bergson, Suzanne Langer, and Harold H. Watts.
